About Halfway There!!!

Yes, you read that right!  I'm 15 weeks, which for triplets is almost half way there (I will be happy if I make it to 32 weeks, but even 30 would be ok although not best).   I had another visit this week (I'll be going every 2 weeks and have an ultrasound every time woohoo!), and all the little peanuts looked so good!  One was even sucking on his/her thumb!!  It's just so incredible to see such vivid images and think about them being inside of me...truly a feeling I could have never imagined!

I am still loving my perinatologist!  Dr. Hare was highly highly recommended by the wisest triplet momma I know (Pam Stone!), so I am lucky to have gotten in with her!  She makes me feel so good about the progress, and keeps reassuring me to relax and enjoy the pregnancy (while it's still somewhat easy).  She said everything looks good so far, just to continue to eat eat eat and try to gain more here at the beginning especially.  With triplets it's very important to gain early, and "store up" for later since they won't be in my tummy during the last few months when most of the growth occurs with a single baby.  Dr didn't try to even guess the genders yet b/c she doesn't want to go back on any of them later, but we should know for sure by the next appt!  Surprisingly, I'm not too anxious about finding out--i guess since there will probably be one of each so I can't complain there!

One of my biggest goals before bedrest starts is to have the nursery completed! After doing lots of crib/furniture shopping with mom and dad last weekend, then deciding for sure on the bedding and paint colors, we are well on the way!  And the men are installing the chair railing in that room as I type, so hopefully painting will be done in a few weeks too!

Here is a picture of the bedding set.... it's called "bumble" and is mostly butter yellow and light gray!  My favorite part i think is the mobile---little crocheted bees...so cute!!  I liked this set b/c it's definitely gender neutral without being too boyish, and has the modern feel (grays, etc), but also still very traditional!

I took a big step towards looking more like a mommy (hehe) and chopped all my hair off!  Those of you that have known me awhile have seen it gradually get shorter and shorter after years of being so long, but this was still a big step for me haha! And knowing how observant of EVERYTHING my sweet 3rd graders are, you can only imagine how much talk of it there was at school yesterday ha! It feels really refreshing, so i'm glad i did it!

Well, I'm off to bake some lemon bars for our school carnival and bake sale today! The kids are so excited (and secretly so am I :))  Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

All Stitched Up!

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone! I got to enjoy a green drink of my own thanks to Kel and Darcie!  Don't worry...it's just fresh lemonade from Chic-fil-a that they brought me!  yummy!!!

Well, still recovering from the surgery yesterday, but i can't complain...overall everything went well!  When I saw the specialists last week, she wanted to put in a cerclage before i got too far along.  THis is done alot with triplets since they have 3 times the weight pressing down on the cervix, causing it to open early, leading to dangerously preterm labor. This should keep those babies in for longer, so of course we were all in favor of it!  Tim, mom, and i arrived at the med center bright and early (5 am!), and were able to leave recovery by 11!  I have really loved TX Women's...everyone was so nice and made me feel at ease throughout all the procedures, anesthesia, etc.  The last time I had a full out surgery like that was my D&C after the miscarriage which was a really rough day, so it helped so much to go into this with a totally different mindset and realizing it was all for a very good cause!   I slept most of the day, and haven't had too much pain...just a little soreness and drowsy from the meds! Mom and timmy are the best nurses and caregivers anyone could want!  I'm SO lucky to have them!!

Now to the fun stuff....I have been SO spoiled already with precious little clothes! (we still don't know the genders, so most are neutral for now) Thought you might want a sneak peek...

kathy is spoiling me too of course!

precious ducky sets from mom

precious preemies from kel!!
love love this shirt in a care package from Court!! wish you were here!!
obsessed with these sweaters from Pam-
she has been an AMAZING and generous
 resource since the beginning!

That's just a little peek...the closet is literally FULL of things already ha!  Thanks so much everyone for loving on these babies!!  It's SO fun to see the tiny tiny sets of 3!!

bump update!

Happy spring break to all you wonderful teachers out there :)  Cannot believe it's already that time!!  I'll be spending most of my time either at the Med Center or recovering on the couch....Dr. wants to do a surgery this week called a Cerclage....basically just means he will be putting some stitches in my cervix to keep them in there longer!  Apparently it's very common to do in a triplet pregnancy b/c the weight of the babies makes it open up sooner, leading to very preterm labor. (sorry TMI I know!)  This is just a precaution, and will hopefully help me last longer!  I'm not complaining....turned out to be the perfect week to do it!!  Speaking of babies...they are growing as you can see here:

A lot happened since last post, so let me update you...
-had to do the 3 hour glucose test (booooo) b/c I didn't pass the 1 hour. Gest. Diabetes is very very common in multiples, so dr wouldn't be surprised if it comes out positive.  But for now i'm still enjoying all the many carbs and sugar that i always have :) oh ya, along with lots more meat/beef to try and up my iron!
-met with the perinatal specialist group....they said all 3 were developing well, but also filled me with even more fears as he went through a super long list of all the problems if they come too early!
-had my first experience with heartburn hah after a fabulous meal at Carrabbas...i'm sure it was the goat cheese or fett. Alfredo, but oh so worth it!!
-timmy and i got a TON of work done clearing out the nursery!  Took a car full of things to katy christian ministries, and put the rest out on the curb....it's amazing how cathartic a good organizing/throw away session is!
- got started on our registry...so fun, but overwhelming when you have to scan most items THREE times each hah!

Hope you all have had a fabulous weekend!

A few of my favorite things...

So far, pregnancy has been really wonderful for me (knock on wood!).  here are are few (random) things that i'm enjoying right now... (this list may totally change in a few months haha!)

1. not worrying about keeping such a big secret anymore
2. cheese, cheese, and more cheese....my deli drawer in the fridge has about 20 different packages of it now haha!
3. watching my bump grow with each week :)
4. all of the generous people at school passing down clothes and other treasures to me (thanks SO SO much Pam, Ellie, Kristin, and Coby)
5.  Getting to spend a lot more time with mom...don't know what i'd do without her!!
6. watching my little peanuts squirm around on the ultrasounds...really puts it all in perspective when you actually See them inside you!
7. Eating Whatever i want, whenever i want (for now....hoping my 3 hour glucose screen this morning comes out ok so i don't have to get a dietician yikes!)
8.  Kraft or Velveeta Mac'n'cheese.... sadly i can seriously polish off a box (sometimes more)on my own...ask timmy poor thing
9.  Shopping for lots of new clothes for me, but especially for the babies!
10. Reading up on everything about multiples....think my book collection has grown to about 10 books...thanks so much Court and Mom for adding to that!!
11.  Getting to share this joy with my amazing family, friends, and the precious 8 year olds i love that are so concerned with their teacher each day!
12.  Growing closer to my Lord...trusting in Him for every step of the way. getting up extra early has been a blessing to have longer quiet times :)

Sorry I have no pics to share :(  Should have some tomorrow after the first visit with the Perinatal Specialists.  Feeling really good now!   Still have to sit down during the day more than i'd like to, but overall i can't complain....well except for the 3 hour glucose test today!  Had to go fasting (didn't get to eat until 17 hours after last night!), and then get blood drawn 4 times....not too fun!  But at least it's overwith and hopefully the last time!!  I was kinda expecting to fail the first one hour one, then do this followup b/c the dr. said most women with triplets end up with Gestational Diabetes.  Just one of those things, but it's all worth it!

love you all,

little gymnasts at 12 weeks!

Happy weekend!  Well, we had another appointment, and all looked great!  They were squirming around and dancing like crazy in there!

3 peas in a pod :)

baby c--always swaying hands around

baby a--doing a headstand! hey, whatever
is comfy in there!

baby b--his/her cord was moving like crazy..
guess they were hungry
Not only were their heartbeats all good (180s), but the ultrasound tech was 99% sure of the sex of 2 of them (not completely sure on "baby a" because of the headstand position). Not to get into too much detail, but apparently at this point they have a "tail" that either sticks out or up depending on boy/girl, and she could clearly see the direction!  I think it's still pretty early to say, but the dr. even said that the specialists we see next week may be able to confirm....that would be so fun!  Of course, we're not announcing it yet till more certain, but let's just say i was VERY happy with her prediction.

Also, this week we did the big "reveal" at school!  I'll post the video a bit later, but it was so fun to see everyone super surprised!!  I'm so blessed to be at such an amazing school--can't even express how much support, love, and encouragement it provides me with everyday!! I'm lucky enough to work with both my sisters, and my close friends!!  So amazing!

that's all I've got for now....still feeling yuck!  Timmy had the flu earlier this week, so I was "quarantined" to my parents house for a few days, only to end up with a virus later in the week!  Just trying to keep the fever down, but so thankful it's not the flu!  Have a wonderful day!!

Still smiling,
Laur + 3   :)
